Happy International Women’s Day!

On this International Women’s Day, I would like you to meditate on the power of the womb – so start by feeling into yours (either in your embodied flesh or where it would be if yours is not located in your physical body). Breathe into that space… no matter if it has given birth or not, or ever will. Feel the power of this organ smack in the core of your belly. I once read that the uterus generates a similar energy field than the heart does. And that fact alone is a powerful tool for deep insights.

The word womb is one of my favourites in the English language. We do not have an equivalent in French… when we recite a Hail Mary, we say, “Béni soit le fruit de tes entrailles.” Yes, your guess is right, it translates to, “Blessed be the fruit of your entrails.” I kid you not.

Now put yourself back into your mother’s womb; outside of any issues you may have had with your mother, bring yourself back into that space  –  feel the nurturing, the warm fluid enveloping you and the connection of the umbilical cord (did you know the network of veins the cord connects to looks like a tree? It does!) Now, think about every person you know.

Your siblings and relatives…

all your friends and acquaintances…

your lovers…

all the people you have ever met and touched over the course of your life – in school, at work, and in every social event.

Please ponder the fact that for each of these humans to manifest into the world meant nine months in a woman’s womb (as well as the hours of labour it took to birth them!) The next time you are in a crowd, I invite you to reflect on this as you look at all the people around you, and I hope you are filled with the same awe as I am.

But let’s take this mediation further. Now think about how your own body got here; that for you to be physically embodied means an endless line of wombs standing behind you – uninterrupted!

Your mother’s womb…

her mother’s womb…

her mother’s mother’s…

her mother’s mother’s mother’s…

and so on… and so on…

You get the picture! Add to that your father’s mother’s and all the women in that lineage… all the way back to the beginning of time… If this does not give you shivers and bring you to the edge of the mystery of life, I don’t know what will! So I am sending a blessing on all the wombs that ever were and ever will be!

“The Womb is one of the greatest powers in the Universe – it is an incredible gift and honor to hold this power within our body. We need to reclaim our womb sovereignty – as this cosmic stargate within us holds the power to birth, create, and shape multidimensional realities. As we stand at the dawn of a new cycle, we must initiate this cosmic birthing power within us.”
